Back in the cockpit! Tom Cruise flies his P-51 Mustang out of Florida airport

Tom Cruise is flying the friendly skies, once again.

The A-list actor, 60, was pictured at Naples Airport in Florida in recent days taking a small plane he owns out on a flight as he prepares to commence with production of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two.

Cruise was pictured at the airport on Tuesday donning a light blue shirt with black jeans as he prepared to embark on a flight in his P-51 Mustang.

He sported shaggy brown locks and looked fit on the spring day at the airfield.

Cruise was seen climbing into the aircraft – which bore his name on the side of it – and was pictured donning sunglasses and an aviation headset for the weekend outing.

Living the high life: Tom Cruise, 60, was snapped preparing for takeoff in his P-51 Mustang out of a Florida airport as he prepares to film Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two

Cruise incorporated the vintage aircraft into his smash-hit summer sequel last year, Top Gun: Maverick.

The aircrafts had been used during World War II, as the one Cruise owns was believed to been constructed in 1946, The Sun reported.

The actor was seen ahead of commencing with the production of the film Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two, in which he will reprise his role of Ethan Hunt.

The motion picture, which is directed by Christopher McQuarrie, also stars Ving Rhames, Hayley Atwell, Rebecca Ferguson and Vanessa Kirby, and is expected to arrive in theaters June of 2024.

Cruise is also gearing up for promotional trail for the first installment, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, which is slated to his theaters in July.

Cruise, who is known for doing his own stunts, initially began developing his passion for flying during the production of his 1986 blockbuster Top Gun.

The action star initially received his license in 1994, and is believed to own two additional aircrafts, the outlet reported.

Top Gun: Maverick hit theaters in May of last year and garnered $1.49 billion including $718 million in domestic revenues, according to Box Office Mojo.

The film garnered one Academy Award for Best Sound on six nominations earlier this year.

It was also nominated for Best Achievement in Film Editing, Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures (Original Song) for Lady Gaga and BloodPop’s Hold My Hand, Best Achievement in Visual Effects, Best Motion Picture of the Year and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Cruise made headlines earlier this year when he did not attend the Oscars, after he did not receive any individual acting nominations for his work in the well-received sequel.

The actor’s costar Jay Ellis called Cruise ‘the last great movie star’ in a chat with The Sun.

‘Tom is unique,’ Ellis said. ‘He has done it all. I think people sleep on Tom. But people should know that he is the last great movie star.’

Ellis noted that ‘what people forget is that [Cruise’s] body of work is very vast,’ as ‘he has done every genre; there is character, plot, action, everything – and he succeeded.’

Ellis continued: ‘His ability to not only organically perform and use the camera while organically performing on camera is a masterclass.

‘There are not a lot of folks out there, none that can do it in the way he does. He is the nicest, most genuine and just giving open guy.’
