Henry Cavill joins glamorous co-star Anna Shaffer at The Witcher season two premiere

Henry Cavill joined his co-star Anna Shaffer at the premiere for Netflix‘s The Witcher season two in London on Wednesday and sweetly brought his brothers and mother Marianne along, not to mention his beloved pet dog Kal.

The actor, 38, looked dapper in an expertly tailored pinstripe suit, while Anna, 29, wowed in an off-the-shoulder blue gown complete with sweeping cape.

Also stepping out mid-week was actor Jack Brett Anderson, who nailed casual-cool in a leather jacket and T-shirt combo, and The Witcher stars Anya Chalotra and Freya Allen, who caught the eye in bold red and sequin looks respectively.

French actress Mecia Simpson, who also stars in the show, braved the chill in a plunging dress adorned with swirls of sequins and added height to her frame in chic open-toe heels.

Actress Therica Wilson-Read, another star, was the picture of elegance in a black jumpsuit while actor Kirk Newmann showcased his smart sense of style, as did Basil Eidenbenz.

Last month, Henry made his highly-anticipated return as monster hunter Geralt of Rivia in the suspenseful new trailer for the second season of The Witcher.

The actor was seen battling magical beasts alongside Freya’s exiled princess Ciri in the two-and-a-half minute video that Netflix released in October.

After a long delay due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the fantasy series’ eight-episode sophomore season will premiere on December 17.

The synopsis for The Witcher season two reads: ‘Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen.

‘While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.’

As the trailer opens, Nivellen (Kristofer Hivju) says in a voiceover, ‘Something has changed, Geralt.’

Geralt says, ‘I’ve lived through three supposed end of days.’

‘It’s all horsesh*t,’ he says as Nivellan turns to look at him.

In a voiceover, Geralt continues, ‘This continent was meant for no one.’

Nigella is shown assembling weapons in a castle as she says, ‘Rebuild our forces, strengthen our numbers. We are an empire. The war’s just begun.’

The trailers cuts to Geralt as he battles demons in a scene cut to a remix of Kanye West’s song Monster.

‘Fear is an illness that can consume you,’ he says.

The scene cuts to an image of a guitar as a woman says, ‘Man, myth, legend.’

The bard Jaskier aka Dandelion (Joey Batey) is seen sitting on the floor of a prison as Geralt tells him, ‘We need your help.’

Jaskier gets to his feet and says, ‘Fine, but first, gentlemen, it’s been an honor.’

He turns to feed a piece of cheese to a rat as Geralt looks on incredulously.

‘What I made new friends, get over it,’ Jaskier says. ‘Jealous?’
