Barcelona’s Football Dynasty Commences with Messi and Suarez’s Memorable ‘Fat Man’ Prank

Lionel Messi’s ‘fat man’ joke with Luis Suarez was the start of a perfect partnership with Neymar.

That is the headline shared in the Mirror (UK) article today, December 16. Luis Suarez looks set to reunite with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami and the former Barcelona striker has revealed how their famous partnership with Neymar began.

Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez scored 195 goals in 283 appearances in 6 years at Nou Camp, winning 13 major titles, including 1 Champions League and 4 La Liga titles. During Suarez’s time in Spain, he was part of a famous three-man striker alongside Messi and Neymar. It is known as MSN (Messi – Suarez – Neymar).

Suarez revealed the beginnings of the legendary MSN trio in Barcelona.

The trio of Messi, Suarez and Neymar played together at Barcelona for three seasons from 2014 to 2017. Suarez went from Liverpool to Barca for 75 million pounds, and Neymar joined the Camp Nou team from Santos. After that, Neymar left Barca for PSG for a world record transfer fee up to this point of nearly 200 million pounds.

The MSN trio won the 2015 Champions League when Barcelona defeated Juventus in the final. Both Suarez and Neymar were on the scorers list in the 3-1 victory for Luis Enrique’s team. On the way to the Champions League final in Suarez’s first season at Camp Nou, he said the relationship between him, Neymar and Messi began to blossom.

Luis Suarez, who scored 25 goals and had 23 assists in his first season at Barca, revealed the nickname Messi gave him after a joke before the Champions League group stage match with Ajax in 2019. 2014.

Luis Suarez said in an interview with Clank: “Luis Enrique wanted Lionel Messi to play as a false 9 because he was used to that position, and me and Neymar on the wings, but Messi found that ineffective. . Messi told me, “Oh, fat man, stay at number 9, I will open the field for you on the right wing.” And that was the beginning of the MSN trilogy.”

Since leaving Barcelona, both Messi and Suarez have followed quite different paths. Messi left Camp Nou in 2021 to sign for Paris Saint-Germain, where M10 spent two seasons, before signing for Inter Miami in Major League Soccer (MLS) in June.

Luis Suarez signed for Atletico Madrid in 2020 and won the La Liga title in his first year here. The former Liverpool striker has since returned to his homeland and played for Uruguayan club Nacional, before moving to Brazil to play for Gremio in January.

Suarez initially signed a 2-year contract with Gremio, but recently, the two sides agreed to end the contract one year early. That sparked rumors that the 36-year-old Uruguayan striker would partner Messi at Inter Miami.

According to The Athletic (UK), an agreement is being completed for Luis Suarez to sign a 1-year contract with Inter Miami to prepare for the 2024 MLS season. If the deal is completed, Suarez will reunite with a number of players. Former Barcelona teammates include Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and of course Lionel Messi.
