When Prince Louis had his first day at school, he was joined by Prince George and Princess Charlotte as well as parents Prince William and Kate Middleton – but it seems he didn’t need any encouragement from his dad
The long summer holidays are finally over and the new school year is here for children all across the UK.
Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are all back in class at Lambrook School for the start of the autumn term. The trio all started at the school in Berkshire after moving to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor with their parents the Prince and Princess of Wales. Attending the school was an especially big moment for Louis, who at the time was just four years old and it marked his move from pre-school. He looked smart in his uniform as he walked to the building alongside his two siblings and his mum and dad.
Like all parents, William and Kate may have been apprehensive about how their youngest child would be feeling about his new start. But it appeared he did not need any encouragement at all – not least from his dad. A clip of them walking into the school on their first day shows Louis refusing his dad’s hand as he proudly walks into class to meet his new headmaster.
Louis clutches mum Kate’s hand as William walks beside him on his left. But when Wills offers his youngest son his hand, Louis doesn’t react and keeps looking straight ahead – leaving his dad hanging. After a few seconds, the Prince of Wales admits defeat and gives the youngster a protective stroke on the head before they eventually meet with headmaster Jonathan Perry.
“Welcome to Lambrook,” Mr Perry told the children. “It’s lovely to have you with us. We’re very excited for the year ahead.” It was the first time all three siblings had attended school together, with Louis starting his education in pre-prep and his older siblings joining the prep as new starters.
However, when they return to Lambrook tomorrow, things will be a little different for all three children. Louis will be entering Year One, Charlotte will be going into Year Four while George will be in Year Six. However, it could be in a few years that George leaves Lambrook – and follows in the footsteps of dad William.
That’s because earlier this summer, the 10-year-old was spotted visiting Eton, his dad’s former school, where fees cost £46,000 a year. Kate was seen talking to two employees of the famous and historic school while wearing an elegant aquamarine dress and ballet pumps, Hello! reports. William was the first senior royal to go to Eton and was followed by brother Harry who was also educated there between 1998 and 2003. It is one of three public schools to have remained boys only, alongside Harrow and Radley, and has educated the likes of George Orwell and Eddie Redmayne. It also counts 20 British Prime Ministers along with its alumni, including Boris Johnson and David Cameron.
