BREAKING: The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly said to have signed a 4-year contract with an NBA player.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Los Angeles Lakers will sign Skylar Mays.

UPDATE: Skylar Mays has officially signed with the Los Angeles Lakers.

OFFICIAL: The Lakers add Skylar Mays on a two-way contract.

On Saturday, Skylar Mays was waived by the Portland Trail Blazers.

The former LSU star had been averaging 6.3 points, 1.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists per contest while shooting 38.4% from the field and 28.6% from the three-point range in 21 games.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski now reports that Mays will sign a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Via Wojnarowski: “Free agent G Skylar Mays has agreed on a two-way deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports tells ESPN. He’s spent parts of the past four seasons with Portland and Atlanta. He gives the Lakers some point guard depth.”

Mays was the 50th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and has spent part of four seasons in the league (with the Atlanta Hawks and Portland Trail Blazers).

His career averages are 4.9 points, 1.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest while shooting 44.3% from the field and 34.3% from the three-point range in 88 regular season games.

He has also appeared in nine NBA playoff games and was with the Hawks when they reached the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021.

As for the Lakers, they are the tenth seed in the Western Conference with an 18-19 record in their first 37 games.

They are 3-7 over their last ten games and most recently beat the Los Angeles Clippers (at home) by a score of 106-103, which snapped a four-game losing streak.

At home, the Lakers are 12-6 in the 18 games they have hosted in Los Angeles, California.
