Lauren Grapples With a Drunken Nikki After Victor Makes a Decision That Leaves His Wife Aghast

At the Club, Adam tells Sally she looks gorgeous as they sit down for their dinner date. He pours sparkling water instead of champagne so there’s no bad behavior and then toasts, “To us.”

As Sally and Adam dig into their carbonara, Adam muses that it’s just like old times. Talk turns to her taking the design world by storm and him and Nick wowing their father. Adam says he still has to earn Nick’s trust. Sally’s impressed that it matters to him. She wants this for them and will always feel guilty for her part in their fractured relationship. Adam reminds her it was fractured long before she came to town. He changes the topic back to her business and Sally relays that her new client is ready to move forward. Adam says they’re both on top of the world and asks, “Are you ready for dessert?” Sally teases that she has chocolate truffles in her mini-bar. Adam asks, “Are you sure about this?” Sally’s sure that she doesn’t want this evening to end.

Adam would love nothing more than to go to Sally’s room, but he has made assumptions about her feelings in the past and doesn’t want to make that mistake again. Sally asks if he’s happy. He says, “Very.” So is she. They agree that they’ve invested the time… and enjoyed every second of it. Sally questions, then, if it’s really moving too fast. Adam feels there’s a lot at stake. Sally agrees, they’ve been through a lot, and lost a lot. There were days she never thought she’d come back from it. It’s scary, but if there’s one thing she’s learned it’s that you have to grab joy and hold onto it for dear life. “That’s why I don’t want this night to end.” Adam says, “Neither do I,” and takes her hand.

At Newman Enterprises, Nick talks to Victor about work but his father is distracted. He says that him and Adam working together makes him very happy. Victoria appears, flustered. She thanks Nick for stepping in for her. Nick and Victor exchange a glance.

At Newman Media, Nikki becomes frustrated with work, closes her laptop, and grabs her purse. She pulls out her flask and contemplates before determinedly putting it into her drawer and closing it. Nikki then walks out.

In Victor’s office, Nick explains to Victoria that he and Adam are co-CEOs. Victor booms that it’s already proving to be successful. Victoria throws up her hands, “Whatever you think is best.” She can’t think about anything but Claire right now. Nick asks how she’s doing and Victoria says it will be a long road. She and Cole are doing whatever they can to help her, but she wants to cut off contact. Victor thinks it may be for the best. Victoria protests in disagreement. She reveals that Claire needs a favor and that’s why she’s there. Victor can’t believe this after what she did to them. Victoria needs to borrow the company jet and the security team to take Claire to see Jordan. Nikki appears and declares, “Over my dead body!”

Victoria asks her mother to try and understand, but Nikki refuses. Any contact between Claire and Jordan is dangerous for all of them. Victor agrees. Nikki fumes that Jordan is evil personified, “Why would you even want to see her again?” Victoria says she wouldn’t be — Claire wants to see her alone. Victor growls, “Wait a minute. This woman after everything she’s done has the gall to attach a condition to her demand?! Are you serious?!” Nikki can only imagine what they’ll concoct if left alone. Victoria argues that Claire needs clarity to heal. Victor is inclined to say no. Nick knows Victoria wouldn’t ask if she didn’t think it was the right thing to do. They need to hear her out. Victoria has concerns, but if this is what Claire needs to move forward, she owes her that, as her mother. Victor’s unconvinced. “We don’t even know this woman.” Nikki seethes that Jordan should rot in a jail cell for the rest of her life; she shouldn’t be rewarded. Victoria hollers that if she doesn’t take this leap of faith for her daughter she might lose her forever, “I can’t let that happen!”

Victoria reminds Nikki that when Jordan kidnapped Claire, she laid her life on the line to rescue her. Nikki says, “I only did that for you.” Victoria knows, and loves her for it, but whatever is next, whatever the risk, “I have to take that same chance for my daughter.” Claire needs to be done with Jordan to move forward to a healthy future. This is her only chance to have a relationship with her daughter. She can’t go back and change things, but she can help Claire find out who she is and the identity that Jordan robbed her of. Victoria reminds her father that he taught them that family always comes first. “I am not going to give up on my daughter, so Daddy please, you have to help me. Please help me make this happen.” Nikki warns Victor it could be another trap or manipulation. Victor doesn’t trust the woman and his instinct tells him no, but Victoria is a mother and she’s right that he’s always taught her to support family. Nikki’s aghast as Victor declares he will provide their daughter with the jet and security team. Nikki fumes, “My feelings don’t matter?!”

Victor booms that of course they matter, but he’s caught in the middle. Nikki asks Nick if he thinks this is a good idea. Nick supports Victoria always and offers to go with her. Victoria says that’s not necessary. Nikki throws up her hands, “Alright, it’s settled then! I’ll just go back to my office!” Turning back at the door, Nikki tells her daughter, “I hope you don’t come to regret this.” Nick asks Victor, “Is she alright?” Victor sighs. He doesn’t need this damn drama and says their mother is fighting for her life. She’s going to AA meetings and her sponsor is trying to help her. “I know your mother. She’s strong. She will fight this, and she will win.”

Nikki enters her office and pulls open the drawer. Grabbing the flask, she pours the vodka down her throat. As she takes to the sofa with the alcohol, Victor comes to the office door, which is locked. He calls out to her. Nikki doesn’t answer, so he leaves. She sighs and keeps drinking.

Nate walks into Crimson Lights and spots Victoria. He asks if she’s OK and how her mother is doing. Victoria thanks him for pulling her mom back from the brink the other day. Nate was glad to help. Victoria hears he’s landed on his feet back at Chancellor-Winters, “They’re lucky to have you.” Nate asks if it’s true she took a leave of absence from Newman. Victoria says, “For personal reasons, yes.” Nate’s sorry. He asks if he can help. Victoria says her whole world is turned upside-down right now and she doesn’t know how to get to the other side. If he doesn’t mind listening, she’s always valued his advice.

At the Club, Nick runs into Adam and Sally, who are hand-in-hand and headed up the stairs to her room. Adam hopes this doesn’t wreck things. Nick assures his brother they’re good. Sally wishes Nick a good evening. He says, “You too,” and walks to the bar.

As he sits down to order a scotch, Nikki stumbles in the revolving doors behind him. Spotting her son, she sneaks off to the side to hide. Nick steps away to take a call and Nikki emerges. Just then, Lauren comes in.

Nikki slurs, “Laurrren. Hello. I was just leaving. We’ll talk soon. You would not believe the meeting I was just in with Victor, Nicholas and Victoria. It was like my feelings were meaningless.” Lauren gawps, “Are you…?” as Nikki goes on. Nikki just wants to find peace. Lauren tells her she won’t find peace in a bottle. Nikki drawls, “How darrre you.” She stumbles as she protests Lauren wanting to call Victor. She’ll take a cab. Lauren says she’ll drive her home. Nikki rails that she can’t go home, “Victor can’t see me!” Lauren catches her and holds on and says she has an idea.

At Crimson Lights on the patio, Nate learns that Claire Grace is Victoria’s daughter. Victoria fills him in on Aunt Jordan and the goings on at the lake house. Nate gawps, “God, that’s horrific!” Victoria says they’re trying to get Claire all the help that they can. They were able to get her moved into a hospital rather than prison, and now she wants to confront Jordan. She doesn’t want her anywhere near the woman, but she wants her to find some kind of peace. Nate believes her supporting Claire in this is the right decision. She should be given the opportunity to confront Jordan about the abuse and lies if she feels strong enough. Victoria is relieved. This makes her feel confident about moving forward. Nate can’t imagine how wrenching all of this must be for her. Victoria misses their relationship. “Did everything that happened really destroy what we had?”

In a Club suite, Lauren calls room service for coffee for Nikki, who tells her she’s helping by keeping this secret. It’s not a secret Lauren wants to keep. Nikki slurs, “You think that I am drunk?” Lauren sighs that Nikki has an addiction and this is on Jordan. She knows Nikki is fighting hard to get her sobriety back. Nikki giggles, “Not hard enough.” She practically fell through the door of this establishment. Lauren assures her she’s not alone. Nikki feels very alone sometimes. A knock comes at the door — Lauren accepts the tray of coffee. She pours a cup and tells Nikki, “Humor me.” Nikki sips the coffee and grimaces. She wants to sleep this off, but Lauren warns that Victor will be expecting her at home. Nikki complains that he calls her all day. Lauren reminds her he loves her. Nikki’s phone rings — it’s Victor. If she answers it, he will know. “You answer it.” Lauren gawps, “You want me to lie to Victor?!” Nikki promises she’ll come clean to him later.

Lauren answers and Victor asks where Nikki is at. Lauren says, “She’s with me.” She claims to have had a fashion emergency at Fenmore’s and Nikki came to the rescue. “We’ll probably be working through the night.” Victor asks her to put Nikki on the phone. Lauren says she can’t come to the phone right now. Victor guesses she’s been drinking. Lauren says, “Yes.” Victor sighs. He’ll have this conversation with Nikki at home. Lauren disconnects and tells Nikki she’ll never lie for her again. Nikki thanks Lauren and urges her to go home to Michael. Lauren asks, “Do you really think that I would leave you hear alone? That is so not happening.”

On Crimson Lights’ patio, Nate tells Victoria that as deeply as he cares for her, he’d never be able to accept the hold her father has on her, nor could he ask her to walk away from them. Victoria thanks him for being so honest. Nate says that’s what friends do, and he is her friend. He’s there if she needs to talk and will support her if that’s what she needs. Nate says he needs to get going. “Take care, Victoria.”

In Sally’s suite, Adam asks if she’s OK, seeing Nick like that. Sally says it wasn’t comfortable but they’ll have to get used to it. Adam asks if she’s saying this date went so well that there could be more. Sally muses, “Well, I don’t know. This one isn’t over yet. Chocolate?” Adam takes the box and sets it on the table. He strokes her hair and kisses her. Sally leads Adam to the bed, where they kiss again. She removes his jacket as they keep making out. Adam lays her on the covers and they intertwine their fingers as he nuzzles her neck.
