One striker in Europe seems to be happy after being linked to Chelsea and a few other big clubs.
There has been speculation about Chelsea monitoring Lille’s Jonathan David, and the 24-year-old has now spoken to Telefoot about it.
Last summer, journalist Ben Jacobs claimed that Lille would have sold David for around €60m (£51m). In the end, though, no one really came in for him despite his excellent season.
During the 2022/23 Ligue 1 campaign, the forward managed to score 24 goals in 37 appearances.
This term, David has not been as efficient, managing six in 19.
Jonathan David flattered by Chelsea links
David seems to be more than OK with getting linked to Chelsea and some of Europe’s other big clubs.
When asked about it, the Canada international said: “When you’re young, these are the clubs you watch and think about. It’s flattering, I appreciate that.”

While David may be happy with being linked to Chelsea and other top sides right now, he is unlikely to get a move this week.
With it being so late in the transfer window, Lille will be reluctant to sell the former Gent man. It is going to be practically impossible for them to replace him in such a short space of time.
From Chelsea’s perspective, it would be great if they could add David to Mauricio Pochettino‘s squad now. His overall goal record in Ligue 1 makes for good reading.
But you would imagine that they are now going to wait and invest the money that could have gone into David into someone like Victor Osimhen instead.
According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the Nigerian has chosen to join Chelsea in the summer. Perhaps David could end up being a plan B, though.
