Manchester United claimed their third successive win in the Premier League against Aston Villa.
Erik ten Hag’s side have completed the double over the Villans this season after a Boxing Day win at Old Trafford. United came back from being 2-0 down to seal the win.
At Villa Park meanwhile, Rasmus Hojlund scored the opening goal while Scott McTominay headed in the winner shortly after coming on following Douglas Luiz’s goal and controversial celebration.
United climbed to sixth place in the table despite a number of players being sidelined with injuries. Lisandro Martinez (knee), Anthony Martial (groin), Tyrell Malacia (knee), Luke Shaw, Mason Mount (calf), Aaron Wan-Bissaka all missed out against Villa.
Ten Hag has invited a number of youngsters to training this week, while Rasmus Hojlund was not seen on the pitch. With that said, MEN Sport takes a look at the latest from the training session at the Trafford training centre.
Scott McTominay scored the winner at Villa and will be pushing for his 13th start for the Red Devils this season when they head to Kenilworth Road. The 27-year-old hasn’t started a game since the 2-0 defeat against West Ham in December.

Jacob Devaney, Ethan Williams and Ethan Wheatley all took part in first team training as Erik ten Hag had a good look at some of United’s talented youngsters. Sonny Aljofree, Will Kambwala, Omari Forsun, Dermot Mee, Kie Plumley and Toby Collyer were also seen taking part in the session.

Aljofree has been a regular for the under-21s, having started in all 10 Premier League 2 games. The young centre-back’s form has not gone unnoticed by the United boss.

Kambwala was also spotted training with Sofyan Amrabat and will certainly be pushing to feature for United for the first time in two months. He made two consecutive appearances against West Ham and Villa in December.

The 18-year-old was also involved in the first-team training. Williams is hopeful to learn from the senior players as he is seen on a one-vs-one with Scott McTominay.

The 20-year-old was one of the youngsters spotted in training. Having joined United’s academy in 2022, he has been a regular for the under-21s. But could he be named on the bench this weekend?
