‘World-class’… Leeds goalscorer Mateo Joseph thinks Chelsea have two players who are the best around

Leeds United goalscorer Mateo Joseph was full of praise for two Chelsea players off the back of their clash in the FA Cup last night.

He told their club website that he thought the Championship side actually deserved the win at Stamford Bridge last night, however the Blues’ individual quality shone through.

Joseph scored his first goals for the high-flying Leeds last night, sending the Shed End delirious on multiple occasions.

However, Chelsea showed a bit of character in a tough atmosphere. Goals from Nicolas Jackson, Mykhailo Mudryk and Conor Gallagher were enough to get them over the line and into the quarter-finals.

The assists for two of the goals were particularly interesting, with them coming from sources who many feel don’t get enough of them, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo.

Joseph was full of praise for the duo after the game, saying that they are two of the best players in their position.

Joseph praises ‘world-class’ Fernandez and Caicedo

He said: “I think we deserved the win personally. We faced a really strong opponent. They bought a lot of world class players, Enzo and Caicedo, the best in their positions and I’m really happy for our performance here.”

Based on the extortionate fees the club paid for the pair, it has not taken much for them to be heavily criticised in the media.

A lot of this has been unfair, especially in the case of Caicedo, who was actually one of the clubs better performers last Sunday in the EFL Cup final.

This was the same again last night, as he continued his improvement since the start of the season.

Mauricio Pochettino did hint that he would ideally like to rest either of the midfield pair at some point, however he doesn’t feel like he has the options fit and healthy to do so at this stage.
