Ariana announced her new album, titled eternal sunshine, will be released on March 8, 2024, via Instagram. The news comes days after releasing her single “yes, and?” in January 2024, her first musical drop since the release of her 2020 album, Positions.
Starting in early December 2023, Ariana has posted multiple Instagram photos and videos of herself in a recording studio. Stars like Billie Eilish, Selena Gomez, SZA and Victoria Monet have all commented under such posts with supportive messages. “Oh this bout to eat,” SZA wrote, with Selena writing a simple: “FINALLY.”
Ariana’s last musical drop was when the songstress dropped a re-recorded version of her Yours Truly album in August 2023, to celebrate the record’s 10-year anniversary.
What Has Ariana Grande Said About Album No. 7?
During a Q&A posted on her R.E.M. Beauty YouTube Channel in April 2022, Ariana responded to a fan question asking about her seventh album — which she admitted didn’t exist at the time.
“This is a question I’m nervous to answer, but I feel like I want to have a little bit of transparency and honesty with my fans,” she said. “The truth is, I have not begun an album. I hear through the grapevine that you have a lot of theories and expectations in that department.”
At the time, she was busy working as a coach on NBC’s The Voice and auditioning for the role of Glinda opposite Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba in Wicked. “That was kind of around the time that I started hearing murmurs about a Wicked audition coming soon, so I went into full preparation mode while I was also shooting The Voice,” she explained. “I was shooting and then also doing lessons every day ’cause I just wanted to be prepared.”
Now that she’s landed the Wicked part, the Nickelodeon alum revealed that she plans on devoting all her time to perfecting the role, since it’s her childhood dream.
“That is going to have every piece of me, every minute, every ounce of my heart, my time, my soul, my everything that I can give it,” she said. “My hands are quite full with a lot of other ‘thrillifying’ work at the moment. I am spending all of my time with Glinda, I just was not ready.”

Album Inspiration
While appearing on the “Zach Sang Show,” the host asked Ariana if her new album was a way for people to “come to their own conclusion” about her relationship with Ethan Slater.
ICYDK, the singer came under scrutiny in the media after her romance with the Broadway star became public.
“We selectively remember that this is what the tabloids do to people, especially women, based on whether or not we like the person,” she explained. “We selectively leave space for humanness, for nuance. They don’t leave space for that. Well, they do for friends and family. But they turn it off when that aligns with a version of a person they have in their head that they want to believe is true.”
