Miss World 2000, famous Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, had to apologize to the public. She was fiercely criticized for the words on the t-shirt she wore for the cover photo of a travel magazine.
In the cover photo above for the October issue of Conde Nast Traveler India magazine, Priyanka Chopra wears a white T-shirt that reads: “Refugees, immigration, outsiders and travel.” But the other words were all crossed out with red ink, leaving only the word tourism. As soon as the cover photo spread, this beauty was fiercely criticized online for being insensitive to the plight of refugees and immigrants.

The wave of “stone-throwing” spread quickly. Some netizens commented that Priyanka Chopra despised the plight of refugees forced to leave their homes and homeland. They asked the magazine to edit the photos, if they did that it would be heartless.
Faced with criticism, Priyanka Chopra, who was named in Time magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world and Unicef’s goodwill ambassador, had to apologize. She said that the text on her T-shirt was intended to fight racism and was misunderstood as having a negative intention towards refugees.
“The photo crew asked me to wear this t-shirt. They said it called for eradicating xenophobia, a problem that is causing pain in many places. This was their idea. I am truly sorry to those who people feel hurt by this. The concept magazine wants to do something good and positive” – Priyanka Chopra shared.
