There has been debate among fans looking at the negative index that greatly influenced Charlie Woods’ bold move on the PGA Tour.

A son taking after his father. It’s not an uncommon sight in the sports world. Well, golf hasn’t been any different either.

Yes, we are talking about Tiger Woods and his son Charlie Woods, as the latter hopes to follow in his golfer dad’s footsteps and eyes a PGA Tour start. While this may be a piece of good news for the youngster’s family and the legend’s fans, not everyone seems to share the same opinion.

A tweet was shared by Jordan Perez, a writer of the sport, on her X handle a while back that highlighted some facts regarding the 15-year-old’s supposed plans. However, while doing so, the community went ahead to express their opinions as well, albeit varyingly, as some decided to support the father-son duo’s actions while others took to ridicule the same.

The Charlie Woods conundrum

The post shared by the golf writer points out how the young athlete has “never played” any event on the American Junior Golf Association. Moreover, adding on, the tweet mentioned how he has also not even “tried to qualify for a USGA amateur event.” However, contrary to people’s expectations, Woods Jr. is “entering a pre-qualifier for a PGA tour event.”

Meanwhile, the news of the young athlete planning to compete in the men’s circuit made headlines a while back. As per the same, he would compete in an 18-hole qualifying event for the upcoming PGA Tour event, the Cognizant Classic at Palm Beach Gardens, which was earlier called the Honda Classic.

Elaborating on the tweet, the writer also commented under the same while pointing out the “world of pressure” that Woods’s son and his family would have to “live up to.” Moreover, OP even alluded to the fact that he would have to bypass high-level events at just 15 years of age, all the while keeping in mind his status.

However, not everyone went ahead to share the same opinion regarding the same. Some supported it, while others went against it. Regardless, the tweet did go ahead and rake in a frenzy of comments as a result of the same.

Tiger Woods’s sons’ PGAT plans send the golf world into a fervor

There were a range of comments under the tweet, ranging from those urging the people hating on him to leave the kid alone to those accusing the youngster of bypassing rules using his status. Nevertheless, the tweet did divide the community just hours after it was posted. Let’s take a quick look at some of them.

Some followers took to support the young athlete, all the while calling attention to the fact that no one would have cared if he wasn’t the Hall of Famer’s son. Meanwhile, the fans also took to mention how someone like the 15-year-old would be able to gain experience as well from the event.

Another supporter took to backing up the Woods family’s decision by divulging how no rule has been broken. What’s more, they also expressed hope that the decision was made as per the teenager’s wishes and not his father’s dreams.

There were fans who took to conveying their thoughts in a more sarcastic manner. But, mind you, they were in support of Charlie Woods attempting the pre-event qualifiers, all the while underscoring the fact that just about anyone could have done the same.

There were followers who couldn’t understand why the community was so bothered by the kid eyeing the PGA Tour as a teenager. Moreover, they called attention to the fact that he was someone who had every right to play in the same.

Meanwhile, there were golf enthusiasts who took to speaking against the young athlete. They were so sure of Woods Jr. ending up choking even before reaching the main part of the PGA Tour event, at the Cognizant Classic.

Some fans couldn’t digest the fact that he was taking a big step at such a young age. They even went ahead to dub the whole prospect of Charlie Woods playing in the qualifiers as nothing short of unfair, all the while questioning his qualification for the same.
