Conor McGregor sends messages to Jake Gyllenhaal and Amazon as Road House 2 is confirmed

Conor McGregor is delighted to hear there’ll be another Road House movie.

The former dual-weight UFC champion earned rave reviews after making his acting debut in Amazon Prime’s reimaging of the 1989 cult classic film.

‘Notorious’ stole the show as Knox, a mercenary sent to kill Jake Gyllenhaal’s ex-UFC fighter character, Elwood Dalton, who had found himself working as a bouncer at a bar targeted by criminals.

The film has racked up a record-breaking 80 million streams since its release on March 21, so it was no surprise when Amazon announced a sequel is in the works.

On Tuesday, it was confirmed that Road House 2 has got the green light.

“Congrats guys, I wish you all the very best of luck with it,” McGregor wrote on his Instagram story before sharing footage from his first acting gig.

He added: “Congrats to the team at Amazon on the announcement of Road House 2 today!”

McGregor’s character somehow survived an almighty fight at the end of the movie and could return to finish his rivalry in the second film.

The Guinness Book of World Records acknowledged Dwyane ‘The Rock’ Johnson as the highest-paid debuting acting ever when he earned $5.5million (£4.36m) to appear in 2001’s The Mummy Returns.

However, McGregor claims he earned more than that for his first film and he would almost certainly make more for his sophomore acting job.

Unfortunately for fans of Knox, he’s focused on making money from fighting for real right now.

“I have had no conversations with no one,” McGregor told talkSPORT MMA last Month.

“I know there’s probably talks going on but I’m not privy to it and I don’t want to hear it. For me, it’s no, there’s no more movies from me.”

McGregor is set to return to MMA following a three-year layoff on June 29.

The 35-year-old will take on Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in Las Vegas.

A win would put the Irishman in line for a shot at several UFC titles, including the BMF belt recently acquired by Max Holloway when he brutally knocked out Justin Gaethje.

Losing is likely to end his career fighting world-class MMA stars.

McGregor may choose to continue against lower-level opposition, or he could decide now is the time to pursue a full-time career as an actor.
