Jessica Pegula is currently on fire. The 29-year-old American player reached the WTA Finals after winning the big trophy at the Korea Open and is focused on keeping the momentum alive. She had a stain from the 2022 finals, which she has now destroyed, having beaten an in-form Aryna Sabalenka in the second round. Her victory over the current world No. 1 has given her maximum bragging rights as she recreates an older record held by Serena Williams.

Pegula’s ferocity has caught the attention of many tennis personalities. Playing a match against the world number 1 would give them general favor. However, going into the fight with Sabalenka, Pegula had the support of Serena Williams’ former coach.

When the Belarusian beauty arrived at the final WTA tournament of the year, many expected her to go undefeated in the group stage. However, that dream was shattered by Pegula by defeating the world number 1 in two sets. The final score of the match was  6-4, 6-3 , and the American player was the one who was left smiling. But the victory was not Pegula’s only great achievement.
