Rapper Latto is embracing a brand-new chapter in her life—motherhood. The Atlanta-born artist, born Alyssa Michelle Stephens, first announced her pregnancy with “redrum” rapper 21 Savage in March by revealing the album artwork for her forthcoming project, Big Mama, featuring her baby bump.
On Monday, the “Big Mama” rapper shared a deeply personal Instagram video chronicling the past nine months of her pregnancy. The montage includes moments from the recording studio, tropical getaways in Antigua, and celebrations with friends and family, all culminating in intimate footage from the delivery room. In the background, audio of loved ones encouraging Latto to “push” plays alongside the beeping of medical monitors.
The video begins in Tokyo, where Latto announces her pregnancy to friends. “Doesn’t feel real, does it?” she asks before revealing, “I’m pregnant.” The footage then shifts to an ultrasound at 13 weeks and a home video from 2001, when Latto was just three years old. At 19 weeks, she shows her growing baby bump to family over a phone call, eliciting tears and cheers.
“She literally made a whole album in her stomach for you—your mother is the hardest working woman,” a friend remarks to the camera.
Latto first revealed her pregnancy in March with the Big Mama album cover, tying the title to her Grammy-nominated song from 2024’s Sugar Honey Iced Tea and her latest single, Business & Personal. In the reveal video, 21 Savage, born Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, placed his hand on Latto’s visibly pregnant belly.
The couple, who have collaborated since 2020’s “Pull Up,” have shared a close bond publicly. Latto even got 21 Savage’s first name tattooed behind her ear in 2023 and referred to him as “my husband” in 2025.
Elsewhere in the Instagram video, celebrity friends including Usher and Angel Reese attempt to guess the baby’s gender, which Latto has yet to reveal.
In a heartfelt voiceover, Latto reflects on balancing motherhood and her career:
“I was already thinking about naming my album Big Mama, and then I found out about you, and it just—everything fell into place. It’s so crazy because I thought this was going to hinder me—making this album sober, being tired and just exhausted, as my body went through all these changes.”
In one of the final clips, a 37-weeks pregnant Latto shares her excitement:
“I’m basically full term, and it’s any day now. I’m so ready to meet my baby. I’m never going to leave when my baby gets here, like I need a million dollars to show, because I don’t want to leave the house.”
