Foolio Murder Trial: Social Media Becomes State's Smoking Gun - AllHipHopProsecutors in the ongoing murder trial connected to the death of Julio Foolio are placing major focus on social media activity they believe links the defendants to the fatal June 2024 shooting in Tampa.

During day five of the trial, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office gang detective Christopher Drabek testified that several online posts made shortly after the shooting are now being used as part of the state’s case against the four men charged with first-degree murder.

The defendants — Isaiah Chance, Sean Gathright, Davion Murphy, and Rashad Murphy — have all pleaded not guilty.

According to testimony presented in court, prosecutors allege some defendants posted celebratory or suspicious content online within hours of Foolio’s death. One Instagram post allegedly shown to the jury included a sports celebration image paired with a caption prosecutors believe referenced the shooting.

Investigators argue the online activity demonstrates knowledge of the crime and potentially connects the suspects to the deadly ambush.

The prosecution also introduced additional physical and digital evidence during testimony.

Detective Drabek also testified about observations made while interviewing Rashad Murphy, including claims that the defendant appeared to struggle writing with his right hand during questioning. Prosecutors suggested this detail may support their theory regarding which suspect allegedly fired shots during the incident.

Phone data presented in court also reportedly contradicted parts of Rashad Murphy’s explanation about travel arrangements connected to Tampa around the time of the shooting.

Meanwhile, prosecutors introduced interview footage involving Davion Murphy, claiming the defendant made gestures referencing firearms and gang affiliations during police questioning after his arrest.

Authorities also recovered a rifle from Sean Gathright’s residence that investigators say appeared visually consistent with one of the weapons used in the shooting.

The state continues to argue the killing was tied to an ongoing rivalry involving Jacksonville-based rap groups allegedly connected to KTA and ATK.

The trial remains ongoing, with additional testimony and evidence expected in the coming days.
