A caller wondered if Aaron Rodgers has an impact on the Jets’ coaching staff when it comes to who to play at quarterback in his absence, and BT says it is something he has thought about, and believed, for some time now.
“Let’s face it, when you have no power and no traction, then you are at the mercy of a power player in the NFL,” BT said. “I believe Aaron Rodgers’ influence is absolutely a part of the reason why Zach Wilson has not been pulled, or why they didn’t bring in a quarterback behind him.”
Sal would like to think that those decisions on starting Zach Wilson or Tim Boyle, or trading for a quarterback, are made by Joe Douglas, Robert Saleh, and the rest of the Jets brass, but given how things have unfolded for Gang Green, maybe it wouldn’t be the worst thing if Rodgers really was having a major say in those discussions.
“I would go as far as to say, with the guys running things currently, maybe that’s the best choice that they have,” Sal said. “Maybe Rodgers is the best decision maker in the organization. I normally don’t subscribe to players running things…but with the way the Jets have made decisions here, it hasn’t worked. At least Rodgers has been a winner in his life.”
