Charlamagne Tha God is weighing in on the ongoing legal controversy surrounding Pooh Shiesty, arguing that the case reflects a troubling pattern involving Black artists and Black music executives.
During a recent episode of the Brilliant Idiots podcast alongside co-host Andrew Schulz, Charlamagne discussed the allegations tied to a January 2026 incident involving Gucci Mane and 1017 Records.
The radio personality questioned why disputes within the music industry often appear to target Black executives specifically.
“I think, at some point, forget the street code,” Charlamagne said during the discussion, while also emphasizing that the allegations against Pooh Shiesty remain unproven.
He went on to suggest that artists accused in similar situations rarely direct the same type of behavior toward white executives, sparking strong reactions online after clips from the podcast began circulating across social media.
The comments stem from the federal case involving Pooh Shiesty, Big30, and several others arrested earlier this year.
According to prosecutors, the group allegedly attempted to pressure Gucci Mane into releasing Pooh Shiesty from his 1017 Records contract during an incident at Luminous Studios in Dallas on January 10, 2026.
Authorities claim multiple individuals were threatened during the confrontation, leading to serious federal charges against several defendants connected to the case.
Pooh Shiesty’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, has strongly denied the allegations and criticized the prosecution’s evidence. According to Cohen, the case relies heavily on statements from cooperating witnesses rather than physical evidence directly linking the rapper to the alleged crimes.
A judge later denied bond for Pooh Shiesty, meaning the rapper remains in custody as the legal process continues.
Meanwhile, Gucci Mane appeared to address the controversy musically through a diss track titled “Crash Dummy,” which quickly fueled additional debate online about whether the rapper was indirectly commenting on the ongoing investigation.
Charlamagne’s remarks have since sparked broader discussions online about race, business relationships in Hip-Hop, and the repeated conflicts between artists and executives within the music industry.
The federal case against Pooh Shiesty and the other defendants remains ongoing.
