Speaking with Netflix Italia ahead of WWE Clash in Italy, Gunther singled out SmackDown star Axiom for special praise, calling him the company’s top technical performer despite many fans not yet fully appreciating his abilities.

While Axiom has found success as part of a tag team in recent years, Gunther believes his true skill set hasn’t been fully showcased on WWE television.

“I don’t think he has the chance to show it a lot at the moment, but I think Axiom actually is the best technical wrestler on the main roster right now,” Gunther said.

The Ring General explained that Axiom’s current role limits opportunities for him to display the full range of his wrestling ability.

“He’s in a tag team, he’s doing different kinds of matches right now, but when he gets the chance to show his skills, I think he’s by far the best technical wrestler we have.”

A History Between Gunther and Axiom

Gunther’s praise carries extra weight because he has firsthand experience competing against Axiom.

The two first met in January 2021 when Axiom was performing under the name A-Kid in WWE NXT UK.
