Nicki Minaj is opening up further about her political views and why she ultimately felt more aligned with the MAGA movement, pointing to a mix of personal experiences, industry frustrations, and disagreements with prominent political figures.
In a recent interview with Time, the rap superstar suggested that there is a significant but often unspoken resentment toward Jay-Z within parts of the hip-hop industry. Nicki has previously accused the music mogul of attempting to undermine her career, and she indicated that her feelings toward him have played a role in shaping some of her broader views.

According to Nicki, Jay-Z’s close relationship with former President Barack Obama also influenced how she viewed certain political dynamics. While she did not blame Obama for her issues within the music industry, she connected the two figures as part of a larger establishment that she feels has not always treated her fairly.
One of her biggest frustrations involves what she sees as pressure on Black entertainers to automatically support Democratic candidates. Nicki argued that there is often an expectation that Black public figures should publicly align with one political party, something she has increasingly pushed back against in recent years.
She also criticized comments Obama made during the 2024 election cycle regarding some Black male voters who were hesitant to support Kamala Harris. Nicki said she found those remarks “condescending,” believing they unfairly characterized voters’ concerns and motivations.

As her criticism of Democrats became more public, Nicki said she found support from conservative figures and members of the MAGA movement. Among those she mentioned was the late Charlie Kirk, who she said welcomed her views at a time when she felt many others were dismissive of them.
Nicki explained that this acceptance played a major role in her growing connection to conservative circles. Rather than focusing solely on policy, she suggested that feeling heard and supported by that community influenced her political evolution.
The rapper has become increasingly vocal about her positions, frequently discussing political and social issues on social media. Her comments have generated strong reactions from both supporters and critics, reflecting the broader cultural debates surrounding politics, celebrity influence, and voter identity.

Nicki recently attracted attention again when she showed off what she described as a “Trump Gold Card,” claiming it was gifted to her by President Donald Trump. She joked that the card granted her citizenship, though the exact nature of the item was not independently verified. Regardless, the moment further highlighted her willingness to publicly embrace her association with the MAGA movement, a stance that continues to spark discussion across both the music industry and political circles.
