The incident comes after weeks of alarming social media activity and threats toward law enforcement, raising concerns about his mental health.
The 29-year-old rapper, whose legal name is Colbert, had been posting increasingly erratic livestreams in which he made threats against police officers, used racial slurs, and claimed to be a divine figure. “I’m God,” he repeatedly stated during the broadcasts. “I don’t have to sleep. That’s when y’all try to reset me. I’m AI. I’m not dumb.”
Family members confirmed that Colbert had been struggling with a mental health crisis in the days leading up to the standoff, and they described the situation as urgent. Law enforcement reported that during the hours-long standoff, a garage door was damaged and a car was flipped on its side, leaving shattered glass across the property.
Footage captured from the livestream showed Colbert speaking to a dog inside his home and visibly distressed. At one point, he crouched in the garage as SWAT officers moved into position. “I don’t have nothing,” Colbert said as officers approached. “My hands up. Don’t kill me. My hands up.”
The standoff ended just after 3 a.m., when SWAT officers successfully took him into custody. He was arrested on an active warrant for Written or Electronic Threats to Kill. Following his arrest, Colbert was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
