Real Madrid could make a £174million move for Erling Haaland next summer, according to reports in Spain.

Haaland joined City for just £51m last year. The Norwegian went on to enjoy a record-breaking debut campaign at the Etihad, scoring 52 goals and helping his side to a historic treble.

Reports over the last 12 months have suggested there is some kind of clause in Haaland’s deal at City, although the specifics have never been clear. But Spanish outlet AS reports that a €200m option becomes active next summer, adding that Madrid are weighing up a move.

Haaland has always been on the radar of the Spanish side but has often been behind Kylian Mbappe, however, recent reports have suggested interest in the French forward has cooled. Carlo Ancelotti’s side are said to be focusing their attention on the City star and hope that Jude Bellingham could convince him of the move.

Elsewhere, the Standard reports that Chelsea’s shock deadline-day move for Cole Palmer came after they missed out on Jeremy Doku to City.

Pep Guardiola’s side won the race for Doku at the end of August, agreeing a £55.5m deal with French side Rennes. The Belgian has enjoyed an excellent start to life in Manchester, registering three goals and six assists in 13 appearances across all competitions.

Chelsea were hoping those stats would have been recorded in a darker shade of blue and also made a late move for Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise, according to the report. But after missing out on both, they sanctioned the £42.5m purchase of Palmer.

Since heading to Stamford Bridge, the 21-year-old has become a regular starter under Mauricio Pochettino, racking up three goals and four assists.
