A Miami domestic violence investigation has led to an attempted felony murder charge against 40-year-old Leisnier Mauri Garcia after police say he stabbed his girlfriend 34 times following an argument over the future of their relationship. Garcia was arrested on June 25, 2026, and is being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, according to local reporting and Miami-Dade jail records. The charge remains an allegation, and the case has not yet gone to trial.
The incident occurred on the night of June 21, after Garcia and his girlfriend rented an Airbnb near the beach and planned to go out to dinner. According to the arrest affidavit cited by local outlets, the woman received a text message from the father of her child, which Garcia saw. Investigators say the message triggered an argument, and the woman eventually told Garcia she wanted to end the relationship.
Police said the couple returned to the Airbnb to gather their belongings before going back to their car. According to the affidavit, Garcia claimed he had forgotten something inside, went back into the rental, and then returned to the vehicle. The woman told investigators that he insisted on sitting in the rear passenger seat, which she described as unusual.
The attack allegedly began moments later. Investigators say Garcia produced a knife from the back seat and began stabbing the woman from behind without warning. The victim reportedly opened the driver’s side door and tried to escape while pleading with him to stop. According to police, she suffered 34 stab wounds across her upper body, including 10 wounds to her neck, and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Garcia was also taken to a hospital for cuts and abrasions to his hands before being booked into custody. Police have not publicly released the victim’s name. Local reports said the woman told investigators she had been dating Garcia since December 2025 and described the relationship as generally good, but also said there had been prior moments when he became aggressive.
According to the affidavit cited by Local 10, the victim also told officers that during a previous breakup that lasted about two months, Garcia had allegedly attempted to assault her. Investigators are expected to use the victim’s statements, medical records, physical evidence, and the sequence of events at the Airbnb and vehicle as the case moves through court.
The case is now in the early stages of prosecution, with Garcia facing a serious attempted murder charge involving a deadly weapon. For detectives, the investigation centers on reconstructing how a relationship dispute escalated into an alleged knife attack. For prosecutors, the challenge will be proving the allegations beyond a reasonable doubt while the victim’s survival and medical evidence remain central to the case.
