Conor McGregor‘s boxing coach Phil Sutcliffe believes things would be different if a rematch were to ever happen with Floyd Mayweather.
McGregor and Mayweather went toe-to-toe in a highly anticipated 2017 bout, with Mayweather beating the Irishman thanks to a 10th round TKO.
Yet, McGregor has since admitted his one regret from the fight was not having Sutcliffe in his corner, at the time sticking with his MMA coaching setup of John Kavanagh and Owen Roddy.
Sutcliffe is now back as part of his team and would be included in the 35-year-old’s party if a rematch ever occurred between McGregor and Mayweather.
It remains to be seen if a rematch will happen, but in an interview with talkSPORT, Sutcliffe insisted that if the two fighters were to meet again, he believes there would be a different outcome.

‘He’s a little bit older, Mayweather, and Conor’s a little bit wiser,’ Sutcliffe said.
‘On the stats from the first fight he hit Mayweather more than any other fighter in history.
‘I watched the fight six or seven times… all you need is good balance, good footwork and good reading, but with Mayweather it’s a different thing, you’d have to give him a little bit more pressure.
‘And I know things but I’m not going to say them on here, but of course it would be different.’
Mayweather could be tempted by the big payday any rematch with McGregor would bring
Mayweather’s win in 2017, was the last of the American’s 50-bout undefeated career, however the prospect of another huge payday could sway him from stepping back in the ring with the Notorious one.
Asked what he would bring to the approach if McGregor got a second shot at the former multi-time world champion, Sutcliffe outlined his credentials.
Adding: ‘I can see when someone throws something what to do, that’s what I’m good at.
‘I’ve always been good at that, but I’m getting better as I get older because I’ve come to more understanding because I’ve seen different things.’
