Many celebrities have enough money to purchases some of the most ridiculous things available to mankind. Some go all out on one extravagant mansion in the Hollywood Hills or invest in several multi-million dollar homes across the world. Some purchase exotic animals (we’re looking at you Mike Tyson), while others are known to spend over $30,000 a month on worldly wines (ahem, Johnny Depp). And then there are those who invest in their own private island. That’s right, celebrity islands! Surprisingly, some of these islands, often in the warm waters of the Bahamas and Caribbean, are actually quite cheap at just over a million dollars, whereas some are over $10 million. Regardless, we’re pretty sure these celebrity island purchases will make you unbelievably jealous.

Larry Ellison – Lanai

In 1977 Larry Ellison, along with a couple friends and coworkers, founded Software Development Laboratories, which is known today as Oracle – the second largest software company in the world. Fast forward to the present day and Ellison is worth an astounding $78 billion. With such a fortune, the Oracle co-founder spent between $300 – $600 million to purchase the Hawaiian island of Lanai. However, he eventually gave part of the island back to the people of the island.
