Archaeologists in the remote Midra Valley of Turkey have made a discovery so staggering that some experts warn it may be the most disruptive archaeological event of the century. What began as a routine structural scan beneath the hills has unveiled a vast subterranean city, sealed off from the world for nearly three millennia—and shockingly intact.
When excavation teams broke through the first stone barrier, they stepped into darkness untouched by time. Lanterns flickered across immense corridors, revealing wooden beams that had not decayed, bronze ceremonial vessels still gleaming, and a royal tomb belonging to the long-rumored King Gordyath, a ruler historians believed was little more than folklore.
