“With someone with addiction you know it has nothing to do with someone else, they have to be ready,” Susan told “If you can be a small part of creating an alternative world for them that says, ‘Hey, I’m here if you’re clean.’ There’s no credit I will ever take other than basically saying, ‘Here’s what I need to have happen, or more importantly what can’t be happening,’ but it’s entirely that person.”

The two faced this obstacle in the early years of their companionship and the producer revealed that she understood the weight of what he was struggling with. Susan explained that rather than trying to force him off his bad habits, she showed him the world he could have if he let them go. She told him that she would be there for him when he got clean, however, she still refused to take credit for his victory over this personal battle.
