Filming “Magic Mike’s Last Dance” wasn’t easy for Salma Hayek. The actress had a big scare during rehearsals for a lap dance with Channing Tatum, as she almost hit her head while she was losing her pants.
Magic Mike’s Last Dance : a final hurray
Eleven years after the first part and eight years after the second, Channing Tatum is preparing to make his return in the role of the famous stripper with Magic Mike’s Last Dance . A third opus directed by Steven Soderbergh , in which the character falls in love with Maxandra Mendoza, a rich socialite played by Salma Hayek . After introducing her to lascivious dances, Mike Lane flies to London with Maxandra to train a troupe and put on a show.

Interviewed by People in February 2022, Channing Tatum claimed to have wanted to develop “a female character who was equal so that Mike could really play and get closer to her” . He added (via Allociné ):
The film really needs to be about a woman’s experience and not Mike’s, because it’s already been about Mike and the other strippers in previous films. We want this film to be very female-oriented.
An almost fatal accident for Salma Hayek
For her part, Salma Hayek assured ET last November that this role of “strong woman” required a lot of effort, specifying that the filming was “very difficult physically” . But that’s not all, since she continued:
I play a strong woman. Do you know what my day was like on the way to the office? I would sit and watch 12 men, half naked, dancing and doing pirouettes. And I had to give them orders.

Salma Hayek also had to give of herself for the grand finale, a dance number lasting around thirty minutes. However, this sequence was apparently not the most dangerous for the actress. While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel ‘s talk show , the actress also explained that the lap dance scene almost turned into a tragedy . The star says with humor:
There is this moment where I am upside down. (…) But on the other hand, we lose balance and I didn’t do what I was supposed to do during rehearsals. I found myself upside down and almost hit myself. (Channing Tatum) was holding me by the pants, but I got scared because I lost them and I couldn’t remember if I was wearing underwear or not. So instead of protecting my head with my hands, I held on to my pants. He was like, “Put your hands in the air.” And I answered him: “No, no, no, no”.
The whole team came in and someone kind of pulled me away from him. He said to me, “What’s wrong with you?” And I said, “What’s wrong with me? You almost killed me!”
