When Luis Suarez signed for Inter Miami, many were waiting for this to happen again.
Speaking to the Uruguayan outlet El Pais during MLS Media Day, midfielder Sergio Busquets spoke about his excitement over playing with his ex-Barcelona teammate once more.
“We are very excited to play with a former teammate,” the Spaniard said.
“We all know what we expect from Luis; he is a striker who has scored goals everywhere”, he continued.
“Last year he was in a very complex league like the Brazilian one, where he was chosen as the best player. He made a lot of goals and a lot of assists, he had a great year and I hope he can continue doing what he has done throughout his career: goals,” he added.
The four played for Barcelona from 2014 to 2020, enjoying immense success.
Now, that they’ve reunited in Miami, many are expecting Miami to challenge for MLS Cup.

Alongside Suarez, the Herons have acquired the signature of Julian Gressel and are in the hunt for other players to add to the squad.
We’re evaluating every department in our front office and performance staff, to support [Tata Martino] and his staff and all the players to make sure we’re performing everywhere in the club,” club CSO Chris Henderson said in his end of year conference.
“We’re looking at everything to [improve the squad.] We have high hopes for 2024, and we want to show what we can do as a club,” Henderson stated.
“Winning trophies and having high ambition is something we’ve had since day one.”
Ultimately, time will tell if Inter Miami can repeat the magic that saw them win the Leagues Cup title.
