Two Teens Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in Wales; Police Seek Public Help After BMW Strikes Motorbike
A tragic hit-and-run collision in Newport, Wales, has claimed the lives of two teenagers, leaving their families devastated and the community in shock. On the early morning of May 7, 2026, Jaydon Bowyer, 19, and Ta-Shay Canoville, 16, were struck by a BMW while riding on a motorbike. Both teens were pronounced dead at the scene.
The collision occurred between midnight and 1:40 a.m. on Aberthaw Road, with Gwent Police confirming the BMW involved in the crash fled the scene before officers could arrive. Following the crash, police launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision and have since arrested three people in connection with the incident.
Arrests made in connection with the deadly crash
On May 7, authorities confirmed that an 18-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of murder, while a 24-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All three individuals remain in police custody as the investigation unfolds.
Police have appealed to the public for any information related to the crash, specifically requesting footage from CCTV and dashcams that may provide additional insight into the events leading up to the collision.
