She said during the podcast that she decided to go on a date with him after seeing his music video for his song Close.

In the music video, Nick and singer Tove Lo’s clothes slowly are torn off to reveal their fit bodies – with Nick’s bulging arm and leg muscles.

‘[I thought] “That body deserves at least a date,’ Priyanka said. ‘I landed on that video. I saw it, and I had to like open the window or something.’

Priyanka said that she has always been a ‘serial monogamist’ but would go from one relationship to the next.

‘I was like, “What the f***ing f**k are you doing? Like, “This is getting self-destructive at this point. I have to choose me,”‘ she said to Call Her Daddy host Alexandra Cooper.

Priyanka took two years off from dating to reflect on why she kept ‘repeating her mistakes’ and always ending up in the role of ‘caretaker’ in her relationships, noting that she always had to ‘prop up’ her partners.

In September 2016, Nick Twitter direct messaged Priyanka.

He told the story to Vogue in the November 2018 in a cover story with Priyanka, revealing that he wrote her: ‘I’m hearing from a few mutual friends that we should meet.’

She responded to him that same day with: ‘”My team can read this. Why don’t you just text me,”‘ he recalled.

The stars then texted back and forth for the next several months with them meeting up in early 2017.

They first met in person at the Vanity Fair Oscars after party in February 2017, they told Vogue.

When Nick first saw her in real life, he was at the bar enjoying his drink.

When she walked in, ‘I put my drink down,’ he said, and he got ‘on one knee – this is in front of a bunch of people – and I say, “You’re real. Where have you been all my life?” Like, loud.’

The duo then met up one week before the Met Gala that same year in May for drinks at the Caryle Hotel, with them also going up to her apartment after – with him meeting her mom who was awake and watching TV.

They did not kiss, which she still holds as a sore subject.

‘We hung out for a couple of hours. He patted my back before he left,’ Priyanka said.

‘There was no kiss. There was nothing. She’s still upset about that… Your mom was in the house! I thought it was a respectful first night,’ Nick said.

They sat at the same table during the Met Gala 2017 after Ralph Lauren invited them – not knowing they were texting and flirting.

They went together as friends.

Priyanka recalled to Vogue the moment when she knew it was different with him while they were on a date together in LA.

He told her: ‘” I love the way you look at the world. I love the drive you have.”‘

‘As a girl, I’ve never had a guy tell me, “‘I like your ambition.” It’s always the opposite.’

In May 2018, Nick and Priyanka were reported to have started dating and by July 2018, he proposed.

They wed in December 2019 in Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

In January 2022 the couple welcomed their first child – daughter Malti – via surrogate.
