Following the return of the Chinese GP after COVID-19-related mandates, the 2024 F1 season will have a record 24 races on the calendar. For most of the drivers and teams on the grid, 24 races is the maximum limit and many see it as unsustainable in the long run. The reigning champion Max Verstappen, has long been the most vocal critic long calendar.

The three-time Formula 1 world champion admitted that he has been thinking about retiring early because of the recent exceedance of the maximum number of races in 2024. He thinks this might be a turning point and hopes that in the upcoming seasons, things can go the other way. While speaking with the press before the upcoming race weekend at Bahrain he said that he won’t stay in F1 till he is 36 if F1 continues to have 24 races a season.

I think we are already well over the limit of races. I still know that I am young, but I know that I am not going to spend 10 more years doing 24 races a year. You have to think about quality instead of quantity, and for me On the other hand, I have said it before, this is not sustainable.Max Verstappen said, as reported by soymotor.com.

Verstappen expressed a desire to balance his racing passion with other aspects of their life. Stating that he does enjoy racing outside of Formula One, But there comes a time in life that eventually leads to a shift towards prioritizing other aspects of life or projects unrelated to competition.
