Emma Stone joined the exclusive two-time Oscar winners club (for actors and actresses) during the 96th Academy Awards, but her recent win is made all the more exciting when realizing what it could mean for the actress going forward. Stone starred as Bella Baxter in the 2023 science fiction comedy film Poor Things, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, and her performance garnered her a nomination for Best Actress at the Academy Awards in March 2024. It was a tight race between Stone and Lily Gladstone from Killers of the Flower Moon, but Stone ultimately took home the Oscar for Best Actress in 2024.

Over the course of her career, Stone has collected five Oscar nominations — she has two Best Supporting Actress nods (for Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) and The Favourite); two for Best Actress (for La La Land and Poor Things); and one Best Picture nomination for her role as a producer on Poor Things. Stone won her two Best Actress nods, while she lost to other performers and movies in the separate categories. However, if Stone earns another acting Oscar in the near future, the talented actress could break a longstanding record.

Emma Stone Talks Poor Things On The Red CarpetEmma Stone Could Become The Youngest-Ever Person To Win 3 Acting Oscars

If Emma Stone wins another acting Oscar anytime in the next ten years, she will become the youngest person to earn three Academy Awards (for acting). The record is currently held by Walter Brennan, who won three Best Supporting Actor trophies for his roles in Come and Get It in 1936, Kentucky in 1938, and The Westerner in 1940, by the time he was 46 years old. Brennan set the impressive record more than 80 years ago, so Stone being the first to surpass the actor in eight (or nine) decades would be an awe-inspiring accomplishment.

As of the writing of this article, Stone, who is 35 years old, is the only actor or actress under the age of 46 with two Oscars. As a result, Stone is the sole person in the running to beat Brennan’s record. The good news is that Stone has ten years to win another Academy Award, and given that only seven years separate her first two wins, she could very easily accomplish this goal. Plus, the talented actress will undoubtedly appear in many more critically acclaimed movies in the next decade.

Despite her young age, Emma Stone has appeared in many critically acclaimed films, from Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) to Poor Things .

Stone is set to star in Kinds of Kindness, a Yorgos Lanthimos (who directed Poor Things) film, which could be Oscar-worthy, given its director and cast. Stone will also reportedly reunite with Lanthimos again for a remake of the 2003 Korean sci-fi comedy Save the Green Planet! Perhaps the accomplished actress only needs one or two years to secure the record as the youngest person to earn three acting Oscars. However, only time will tell if Stone can take the crown from Brennan.

Poor Things

Poor Things is a sci-fi romance film from The Lobster director Yorgos Lanthimos. The story focuses on the bizarre and fantastical world of Bella Baxter after a scientist named Dr. Godwin Baxter brings her back to life. The film is based on the 1992 novel of the same name by Alasdair Gray.

Despite her young age, Emma Stone has appeared in many critically acclaimed films, from Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) to Poor Things. Consequently, she has been given multiple opportunities to show off her acting chops, and Stone has delivered every single time, resulting in four acting Oscar nominations and two wins. Of course, Stone is not the youngest actress to receive two Academy Awards for their performances in movies, but the fact that she has already accomplished so much by the age of 35 is a sign of her talent.

Stone is evidently a well-respected actress in Hollywood, resulting in numerous esteemed directors and producers seeking her for parts in their films. She has also made many good choices regarding which roles she accepts. So, even though she is young, Stone has crafted a wonderful career in acting for herself, and it’s only just the beginning.
