Actor Nick Pasqual has been found guilty of attempted murder after a violent incident that left his estranged girlfriend, Hollywood makeup artist Allie Shehorn, with severe injuries. The conviction came on Friday, May 8, after Pasqual was accused of breaking into Shehorn’s Los Angeles home in the early hours of May 23, 2024, and stabbing her more than 20 times.
Pasqual, who is best known for his role on How I Met Your Mother, was convicted of attempted murder, first-degree residential burglary with a person present, and injuring a spouse or intimate partner under circumstances involving domestic violence. He is facing a potential life sentence in prison following the verdict.
The Violent Attack
The attack occurred around 4:30 a.m. when Pasqual allegedly broke into Shehornâs home. He used a knife to inflict severe injuries on her, causing great bodily harm. According to the Los Angeles District Attorneyâs Office, Pasqual fled the scene, but authorities were able to detain him at a U.S./Mexico border checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas.
During the trial, Shehorn, who bore visible scars from the attack on her arm and neck, testified about a violent confrontation she had with Pasqual just days before the stabbing. She described how he had previously broken into her home by forcefully punching through the door. “I locked the door and he just started punching holes in that door and broke that open,â Shehorn said. âI just ran into the bathroom because I thought thereâs another lock on that door.â
Pasqual’s History of Domestic Violence and Previous Arrest
Just five days before the attack, Pasqual had been arrested for domestic violence and released on a $50,000 bond. Despite Shehorn filing a restraining order against him, Pasqual allegedly came after her as soon as he was released. On the morning of May 23, Shehornâs friend, Christine White, discovered her lying in a pool of blood with what appeared to be more than 20 stab wounds. White immediately tried to help her, instructing her to apply pressure to her neck to stop the bleeding.
Shehorn was rushed to the hospital, where she underwent 14 hours of intensive life-saving and reconstructive surgery. After several days in intensive care, she was eventually released and moved to a different part of the hospital to continue her recovery.
Shehorn’s Recovery and the Impact on Her Life
Allie Shehorn, known for her work on Mean Girls, Rebel Moon, and Babylon, has made significant strides in her recovery despite the traumatic experience. Her friend, Jeff Dornoff, provided updates through a GoFundMe page, expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support she received. “It’s still a very long road, but she is facing it with courage and determination,” Dornoff wrote in May 2024.
By July 2024, Dornoff reported that Shehorn was doing well and had made “really great strides” in her recovery. “The main thing is she has been kept safe and happy, which accounts for her awesome healing,” he added.
Legal Consequences and Future Sentencing
Pasqualâs conviction for attempted murder has brought a sense of justice to Shehornâs family and friends, but the road to healing for the victim is far from over. Pasqual’s sentencing will take place in the coming months, with the possibility of a life sentence in prison hanging over him for the brutal attack on Shehorn.
