Rapper Kodak Black, whose real name is Bill Kapri, was arrested for a second time in Florida on Thursday, May 14, less than two weeks after his previous arrest. This time, he faces charges of resisting an officer/obstructing without violence and attempting to flee law enforcement, according to records from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. Kapri was booked into Broward County Jail, with both charges listed as pending trial and bond set at $0.
Kapri’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, described the arrest as part of a pattern of what he calls weak or unfounded cases. Cohen told TMZ that this second arrest follows months-long investigations that eventually result in charges that appear inconsistent. He added that Kodak has been “consistently targeted” and framed the arrest as a procedural step rather than the result of a new or emergent offense.
This recent arrest follows his May 6 arrest for a felony charge of trafficking in MDMA. That charge stemmed from an alleged November incident in Orlando, during which officers responded to reports of gunfire outside the Children’s Safety Village. According to the affidavit, police smelled marijuana from a vehicle and searched it while Kapri was present. The affidavit claims that officers discovered several items connected to the rapper, including a pair of pink scissors, a ring, and a gun—each allegedly matching images Kapri had posted on Instagram. Drugs were also reportedly found inside one of the vehicles, leading to his initial arrest.
Kapri appeared in court on May 7 for the MDMA trafficking charge, pleaded not guilty, and requested a jury trial. Given his extensive criminal record—including 12 previous felony convictions, two misdemeanor convictions, and one failure to appear—the judge set his bond at $75,000. Kapri subsequently bonded out, according to reports from Click Orlando and Orlando Weekly.
