Authorities have arrested four men in connection with a triple homicide case that remained unsolved for more than a decade, including an assistant principal from Alabama.
According to the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation dates back to January 13, 2013, when three bodies were discovered inside an abandoned Dodge Charger in Union City, Georgia.
Investigators allege the victims were lured to a residence in Jonesboro, Georgia, where they were held at gunpoint before being tortured and killed. Authorities say the victims’ bodies were later placed inside the vehicle, where they were eventually found.
On May 8, officials obtained arrest warrants for four suspects who were each indicted on three counts of malice murder. Law enforcement agencies reportedly carried out the arrests across three different states within a 48-hour period.
One of the individuals arrested was Keante Harris, who authorities say is currently being held in Jefferson County, Alabama, on a fugitive from justice warrant.
According to publicly available employment information, Harris has worked in education for nearly two decades and currently serves as an assistant principal within the Jefferson County school system. Reports from local media identified him as an administrator at McAdory Middle School.
In a statement reported by local outlets, Jefferson County Schools Superintendent Walter Gonsoulin said district officials were aware of Harris’ arrest and were still gathering information regarding the situation.
The superintendent stated that preliminary information indicated the allegations were not connected to Harris’ role within the school district. Officials also confirmed that Harris has been placed on paid administrative leave pending further developments.
Authorities have not yet publicly explained what evidence linked the four suspects to the 2013 killings, and it remains unclear whether formal prosecutions have begun in court.
Local reports identified the three victims as Cheryl Colquitt-Thompson, Quinones King, and Rodney Cottrell, all residents of Montgomery, Alabama.
The case continues to draw attention due to the length of time it remained unresolved and the unexpected arrest of a school administrator more than a decade after the killings.
