Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine is once again making headlines after sharing controversial comments about Drake and Lil Durk, claiming their recent public struggles may be tied to what he described as “divine” consequences for dissing him on the 2020 track Laugh Now Cry Later.

During a recent interview with VladTV, the New York rapper reflected on the backlash Drake has faced in recent years and admitted he never expected the Canadian superstar to become the target of widespread criticism.

“God has showed me that he’s real,” 6ix9ine said. “Someone I never thought the world would turn against was Drake. I thought Drake was the most loved.”

The rapper referenced the intense online scrutiny surrounding Drake, including the viral fallout connected to Kendrick Lamar’s highly discussed Super Bowl halftime performance, during which Kendrick directly mentioned Drake while accusing him of inappropriate behavior.6IX9INE – GINÉ

6ix9ine then shifted focus to Lil Durk, who remains in custody following his October 2024 arrest in connection with an alleged murder-for-hire plot dating back to 2022. Durk is currently being held without bond, with his trial expected to begin in August 2026.

According to 6ix9ine, the title of Drake and Durk’s collaboration Laugh Now Cry Later now feels ironic in light of their recent troubles.

“That same year, Durk gets arrested for murder-for-hire,” he said before referencing a Bible verse about people who try to humiliate others.

The controversial rapper also questioned how someone facing serious criminal allegations could maintain happiness while close associates allegedly cooperate with investigators.

6ix9ine, who himself has faced federal charges and public backlash throughout his career, has built a reputation for provocative interviews and online commentary. His latest remarks have already sparked heated reactions online, with fans divided over whether his comments reflect personal belief, trolling, or another attempt to stir controversy involving some of hip-hop’s biggest names.
