Reginald has revealed that Vince McMahon once considered adding him to the historic WrestleMania 37 main event between Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair.
Speaking during an appearance on Rewind Recap Relive, the former WWE performer claimed McMahon pitched the idea of turning the match into an intergender triple threat at one point during the storyline buildup in 2021.
Banks and Belair famously made history by becoming the first Black women to headline WrestleMania, with their match later being widely praised as one of WWE’s most important main events of the modern era.
According to Reginald, however, the original plans nearly became far more controversial.
“I almost main evented WrestleMania,” Reginald said. “Vince wanted a triple threat between Sasha, Bianca, and myself.”
At the time, Reginald was heavily involved in storylines alongside Banks, Belair, and Carmella. He had previously appeared as Carmella’s sommelier before transitioning into an on-screen role that included interactions and matches with Sasha Banks.
Reginald explained that McMahon pitched a storyline where he would gradually separate from Carmella and grow closer to Banks before eventually inserting himself into the WrestleMania title match.
“Vince calls all of us into the office — me, Sasha and Bianca,” Reginald recalled. “He says, ‘You will come out and announce that this is no longer a singles. This is a triple threat.’”
The former WWE star admitted the reaction inside the room immediately felt awkward, especially from Banks and Belair.
“Sasha had a look on her face, and Bianca had the same look on her face,” he said.
Reginald also shared a humorous exchange involving McMahon repeatedly insisting that he and Banks had “great chemistry,” despite struggling to explain exactly what he meant.
Ultimately, the idea was dropped before WrestleMania took place — something Reginald himself now agrees was the right decision.
“That would have been stupid to throw me in that match,” he admitted. “They went on to have a great match that’s going to live in WWE history for a long time.”
Ironically, even if the plans had moved forward, Reginald later revealed he would not have been able to appear at WrestleMania anyway because he tested positive for COVID-19 on the day of the show.
He explained that he had originally been scheduled to accompany Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler during their Women’s Tag Team Championship match before receiving the diagnosis.
“My first WrestleMania — COVID. I had to drive back home,” he said.
During his WWE run from 2020 to 2024, Reginald performed under several names including Reggie, Reginald, and Scrypts. He also revealed during the interview that he is currently close to finalizing a deal with All Elite Wrestling and Ring of Honor, where he has already appeared under a new character named Soleil.
