Authorities in New Jersey say an 18-year-old man has been charged after police responding to a 911 call discovered his 69-year-old grandmother dead inside a home in what investigators described as a deeply disturbing scene.
According to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Louis Brown, 18, of Jackson Township, was arrested on May 18 and charged with murder along with multiple weapons-related offenses connected to the death of Darlene Brown, 69.
Investigators say the incident unfolded early Sunday morning after authorities received a 911 call reporting that someone had been killed inside a residence on Justin Way.
Prosecutors allege the emergency call was placed by Louis Brown himself.
When officers arrived at the home around 7 a.m., authorities said they found Brown standing in the front doorway. According to investigators, he exited the residence with his hands raised and was immediately taken into custody while officers entered the home to investigate further.
Inside an upstairs bedroom, police discovered Darlene Brown deceased with severe injuries to her face and neck, according to prosecutors.
Authorities also stated that investigators found two knives lodged in the victim when officers arrived at the scene.
The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that Brown has been charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Following his arrest, Brown was transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he remains held pending a detention hearing.
Officials have not publicly released additional details regarding a possible motive, and investigators have not commented on what may have led up to the deadly incident.
The shocking case has drawn significant attention locally due to the nature of the allegations and the family relationship involved.
As the investigation continues, authorities say additional information may be released through future court proceedings.
