Prosecutors allege that Anna’s 16-year-old stepbrother, Timothy Hudson, was responsible for her death and took deliberate steps to conceal the crime. According to U.S. Attorney Alejandra Lopez, Anna was last seen alive entering cabin 8343 at 7:38 p.m. on Nov. 6, 2025, but never left the room alive.
The following morning, a cleaning crew discovered Anna’s body, wrapped in a blanket and partially shoved under the bed, with a box of life vests strategically placed to obscure it from view. Lopez noted that the body was hidden so effectively that Hudson’s mother and Anna’s father reported that the 16-year-old was the last to see her alive, yet even when he shared the cabin that night, he slept just feet away from the hidden corpse.
Court transcripts indicate that Hudson had entered the cabin just minutes before Anna and left only occasionally over the next 18 hours. Investigators allege he actively blocked her brother from entering the room at one point, making him wait in the hallway for two minutes after midnight, which prevented anyone from discovering Anna until the next day.
Authorities also claim that Hudson destroyed Anna’s cellphone before disposing of it in the ship’s trash, further attempting to erase evidence. Prosecutors emphasized the premeditation in his actions, portraying a calculated effort to hide the crime rather than a spontaneous act.
Family testimony in the documents underscores the aftermath of the tragedy: Anna’s father, Christopher Kepner, and Hudson’s mother, Shauntel, reportedly cut all ties with the teenager following the incident.
