Charlotte Flair Says Rivalry With Becky Lynch Pushed Them Both to Another Level in WWE

Charlotte Flair says rivalry with Becky Lynch made them betterCharlotte Flair believes her legendary rivalry with Becky Lynch helped elevate both women to the top of WWE — and she says the competitive tension between them was exactly what made the feud so special.

During a recent appearance on TMZ Sports’ Inside The Ring, Flair reflected on her long-running rivalry with Lynch and explained how their shared desire to be the best created the kind of intensity fans saw both on-screen and behind the scenes.

“Competition Breeds Competition”

When asked whether personal animosity helped fuel their matches and storylines, Flair admitted that strong personalities naturally create tension when both competitors are fighting for the top spot.

“With Becky and I, we both wanted to be on top,” Flair explained.

“It’s like with Sasha [Banks] and I — we both wanted to be on top. Any time you get two alphas in the room and they want to be the best, there’s gonna be tension, and I think that’s how it should be.”

Flair emphasized that rivalry and competition are necessary parts of professional wrestling at the highest level.

“If you’re not in the game to be the best, then what are you doing?” she added.

“You want that. You want competition. Competition breeds competition — it’s how you get better.”

The rivalry between Flair and Lynch became one of the defining storylines of WWE’s women’s division during the late 2010s, helping transform women’s wrestling into a central attraction within the company.

Their battles included championship matches, personal betrayals, and the groundbreaking road to WrestleMania 35, where Lynch famously headlined WWE’s biggest event alongside Flair and Ronda Rousey.

Charlotte Flair Doesn’t Think the Rivalry Is Finished

Despite everything the two have already accomplished together, Flair hinted that she believes there is still more to come between them.

“I don’t think it’s over,” she said. “I think this is just the beginning.”

Flair also suggested newer WWE fans may only now be discovering the full impact of their rivalry through the upcoming documentary series.
