In the Dead Sea Scrolls research, AI models like Enoch are helping scholars analyze handwriting patterns and refine dating estimates, suggesting some texts may be older than previously believed. These AI applications don’t instantly “solve” all mysteries, but they do provide new ways to interpret ancient writing that traditional methods alone couldn’t achieve.
Another area where AI shows promise is in decoding damaged or fragmentary manuscripts and inscriptions, aiding researchers in reconstructing text and context that might otherwise remain lost to time. These tools can analyze patterns across thousands of ancient texts and help place them in broader historical narratives.

What AI is unlocking isn’t a single sensational revelation but a steady accumulation of real historical insights: unearthing previously unreadable texts, extending our view of ancient libraries, and refining our understanding of when and how these documents were written.
