The 41-year-old Chicago native reveals for the first time her personal story, detailing the grooming, abuse, and decades of silence that followed.
Landfair explained the constant reminder of her trauma in her day-to-day life: “I work in a high school, and when I walk into work every morning, R. Kelly is playing on a loudspeaker before I get my day started.” For years, she introduced herself as “Chon” to avoid recognition, carefully hiding her identity while grappling with the aftermath of the abuse.
Her memoir chronicles the beginning of R. Kelly’s manipulation, starting with how he groomed her family by offering her father work as a studio musician. She also details the intense psychological toll of living under the shadow of her abuser’s fame, describing the fear and shame that kept her from speaking out for decades.
