LeBron James is pleased with his wife Savannah’s “Way I Treat” and what it teaches the 11-year-old. Zhuri, a daughter

LeBron James Says the Way He Treats Savannah Is the Greatest Lesson He Teaches Daughter Zhuri

LeBron James believes one of the most important lessons he can teach his daughter has nothing to do with basketball.

Following the Los Angeles Lakers’ 142-130 victory over the Chicago Bulls during the team’s annual Girl Dad Night, LeBron reflected on fatherhood and the example he hopes to set for his 11-year-old daughter, Zhuri James.

When asked what he considers the most valuable lesson he has passed on to Zhuri, the four-time NBA champion pointed directly to the way he treats his wife, Savannah James.

“The way I treat her mother,” LeBron said. “The love that I have inside the family, the accountability that I have inside the family, the way I treat her mom, her grandmothers, my mom, my mother-in-law, and her siblings.”

For LeBron, raising children starts with the environment they see at home every day.

“I think a lot of habits that kids have come from their households,” he explained. “A lot of love comes from their households. A lot of things that they take with them as they get older are learned at home.”

LeBron and Savannah, who have been together since high school, are parents to three children: Bronny, Bryce, and Zhuri. According to the Lakers superstar, one of the biggest rewards of parenting comes when other people compliment their children’s character.

“One of the best compliments Savannah and I can get is when people say our kids are so well-mannered and such great kids,” LeBron said. “That’s the greatest compliment we can receive.”

The NBA’s all-time leading scorer also admitted that having a daughter changed him in ways he never expected.

“I love girl dads. It’s pretty cool, and I’m happy to be one,” LeBron shared. “Having Zhuri definitely softened me up a lot, for sure.”

The comments came during the Lakers’ annual Girl Dad Night, an initiative launched in 2024 to celebrate girls in sports and recognize fathers who support their daughters’ dreams. The event, held each March during Women’s History Month, also honors the legacy of Kobe Bryant, whose devotion to his daughters inspired countless fathers around the world.

This year’s celebration featured special father-daughter performances, including a halftime dance by the Laker Girls alongside their fathers. The evening highlighted the powerful role fathers play in encouraging, supporting, and empowering young women.

For LeBron, the message was simple: the greatest lessons children learn often come not from what parents say, but from what they do every day.

And for Zhuri James, that lesson begins with the love and respect she sees between her parents.
