Museum “Means a Lot to Me,” according to LeBron James Prior to Opening

Home Court is set to open Nov. 25 in the basketball legend’s hometown of Akron, Ohio

LeBron James is on the cusp of scoring another lifelong dream.

Home Court, an immersive multimedia museum dedicated to the NBA superstar’s journey and milestones, will open Nov. 25 in his hometown of Akron, Ohio.

“My dream was always to put Akron on the map, so to have a place in my hometown that allows me to share my journey with my fans from all over the world means a lot to me,” the Los Angeles Lakers star, 38, said in a press release. “I’ve been known to hang on to a lot of things over the years, and I always knew there would be a time and place to bring them out.”

The museum will take patrons on a self-guided tour of the future Hall of Famer’s life, beginning with a re-creations of the Spring Hill Apartment #602 he lived in and the St. Vincent-St. Mary’s high school gym in which he played.

Other items on view at the museum will include the white suit he wore when he was selected No. 1 in the 2003 NBA Draft and relics from his 21 seasons in the NBA, including stops in Cleveland, Miami and Los Angeles.

Proceeds from the venue — general admission tickets are $23, LeBron’s jersey number — will go to The LeBron James Family Foundation’s House Three Thirty job training program.

Akron, of course, holds a special place in the basketball legend’s life.

In a video posted to Instagram in August, LeBron drove around his old stomping grounds in a vintage green Bronco and shared his enthusiasm for his home state, and for where it all began.

“Love being back in my backyard and just cruising around with no care in the world!!!!” the Los Angeles Lakers star wrote. “MJ going strong and stank face on!! #ThekidfromAKRON🤴🏾 Thank you to Life itself!”
