After two days of competition at the SAP Center, Biles reached a total score of 118.40, only four points higher than runner-up, Shilese Jones.

Simone, who is often referred to as the greatest gymnast of all time, opened up to NBC after the big win and record-breaking milestone.

‘I think it feels really special,’ she gushed, adding, ‘I’ve been doing it for so long, I feel like I don’t think about numbers. I think about my performance. And I think overall, I hit eight for eight. I guess it’s a lucky number this year.’

In regards to her next step and whether she will take part in the upcoming Paris Olympics, Simone expressed, ‘I like to keep (my goals) personal, just so that I know what I’m aiming for.
