A Florida shooting outside a McDonald’s in Hallandale Beach left an 11-year-old girl and her father injured after they were struck by gunfire while sitting inside their vehicle. Police say the incident, which occurred on June 27, was a targeted shooting between two individuals that unexpectedly placed an innocent family in the line of fire.
According to the Hallandale Beach Police Department, 18-year-old Ralph N-Kosi Blue III was arrested in connection with the shooting. Authorities said the violence unfolded in the parking lot of a McDonald’s located on West Hallandale Beach Boulevard at approximately 1:35 p.m., and investigators later determined the confrontation originated outside city limits before spilling into the restaurant area.
Surveillance footage reviewed by investigators allegedly shows Blue entering the restaurant before turning back after noticing another individual approaching. Police say the second individual then ran toward him, triggering an exchange that escalated into gunfire in the parking lot. During the shooting, bullets struck a nearby vehicle occupied by a father and his 11-year-old daughter, along with two younger children who were also inside at the time.
Authorities confirmed that the 2-year-old and 5-year-old children were not injured. The father was treated at a local hospital and released, while the 11-year-old remains in stable condition as of the latest update. Police described the family as innocent bystanders caught in what they believe was a targeted confrontation unrelated to them.
Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing panic as the scene unfolded. One nearby worker told local media he heard screaming before police quickly arrived and secured the area. Investigators continue to review surveillance footage and witness statements to determine the full sequence of events.
Blue, who previously worked at the McDonald’s location, was charged with two counts of aggravated battery and two counts of aggravated assault. He is currently being held at Broward County Jail without bond. Officials said the investigation remains active as they work to identify and locate the second individual involved in the shooting.
Police emphasized that the case remains under review and that additional charges could be considered as more evidence is analyzed, while the focus remains on understanding how a targeted dispute escalated into a public shooting involving an innocent family.
