Rivalry paused! Barcelona star Gavi receives surprise letter from Real Madrid president Florentino Perez after seeing his season all but ended by ACL injury blow
The ACL injury that Gavi sustained while playing for Spain this past weekend came as a huge blow for FC Barcelona.
With the youngster set to undergo surgery later this month, it is expected that he will not play again for the remainder of the season. In fact, the 19-year-old is likely to miss the Euros and Olympic Games in the summer of 2024 as well.
An ACL injury for any footballer is the worst possible news and naturally, there has been a great outpour of support for Gavi since his injury was confirmed.
Current and former teammates, club legends, opponents, and even rival clubs have sent messages of support to the Barcelona midfielder.
Real Madrid president has written to Gavi
Now, Melchor Ruiz of COPE is reporting that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has written a letter to Gavi to offer him support on behalf of the entire club.
The Real Madrid president sends a letter to every footballer who suffers a serious injury wishing them a speedy recovery on behalf of the team.
And, even though there has been no official mention of it on any of Real Madrid’s club channels, the aforementioned report states that Perez has indeed sent a letter to Gavi.
Out for the season. Joselu, Carvajal also offer support to Gavi
Apart from Florentino Perez’s letter, Real Madrid stars Dani Carvajal and Joselu took to social media to send their well-wishes to Gavi after his ACL injury.
Both Carvajal and Joselu share the dressing room with the teenager for the Spanish national team and set their club rivalries aside to show support to Gavi at this time.
“We are with you, Gavi. You will come back stronger than ever,” Joselu wrote on an Instagram story.
“Rivals and teammates, but above all, people. You will come back stronger friend. Good luck,” Carvajal wrote.
