The air in the Forrester Creations executive suite is thick with deceit, and the walls are closing in on Steffy Forrester Finnegan and Carter Walton. After Monday’s episode, the pair stood face-to-face with Ridge Forrester and delivered a lie so flimsy it should have crumbled on the spot, yet Ridge walked away without pressing further. The tension is unbearable, and the fallout promises to reshape the entire landscape of the show.
Carter’s story was desperate and transparent. He claimed the awkward tension Steffy and he displayed in the anteroom was merely him pushing her back to her husband, Finn. Ridge nodded, accepted the explanation, and left.
But anyone watching the August 17th episode knows the truth is far darker. Steffy returned from Monaco in a rage, traumatized by the Sheila nightmare on the beach, and Carter was nursing his own wound after Daphne Rose Walton left for Paris.
They were both broken, both hurting, and they drank together in that office. The August 18th episode confirmed the worst fears. They woke up tangled in a blanket on that office floor, having crossed the ultimate line.
This was no innocent kiss. This was a full-blown affair, and the secret is now a ticking time bomb that threatens to destroy multiple lives.
The audacity of Steffy standing there, letting Carter lie to her father, is peak Steffy. This feels like a bizarre time loop for longtime viewers. In 2017, Steffy slept with Bill Spencer in the guest house, buried the secret for months, and watched her marriage to Liam explode in 2018.
She never learned. Secrets in Los Angeles do not stay buried. They fester, they rot, and then they explode, taking out everyone in their path.
Finn is the tragic figure in this mess. On August 20th, this devoted, oblivious man slid Steffy’s wedding rings back onto her finger at the cliff house. He looked into her eyes and vowed that nothing in their future could ever come between them.
Meanwhile, Steffy stood there, radiating guilt, probably still smelling of Carter’s cologne and bad office tequila, and let him make those promises. It is cruel beyond belief.
Finn has his flaws, especially his blind spot for Sheila, but he does not deserve to be made a fool of like this. Yet the person who may suffer most is Daphne. Carter is the one who begged for silence.
He pushed Steffy to bury this because he just got his miracle back. On that same August 20th, Carter put Daphne’s ring back on her finger after her heartbreaking premature menopause diagnosis from July.
Daphne thinks her body has betrayed her, that she cannot give Carter the family he wants, yet she came back because she loves him too much to stay away. She literally told Carter that she models her marriage after Steffy and Finn. The irony is sickening.
Carter knows exactly which house burns first if this gets out. If Daphne finds out he slept with Steffy, the woman she looks up to, it will destroy her completely.
So Carter lies to Ridge, and Steffy stays quiet. But the pressure is mounting. Every time Finn touches those rings on her finger, the guilt climbs higher.
Carter will spend all of September praying she never says his name. My prediction is that Steffy cracks first. She wanted to confess before she caved to Carter’s begging.
She will likely blurt out that she cheated without naming the guy, just to clear her conscience.
That move is incredibly selfish because it will send Finn on a frantic manhunt for the truth. It will protect Daphne for exactly as long as it takes Finn to ask one follow-up question. The entire situation is a powder keg, and the fuse is burning fast.
Meanwhile, Tuesday’s episode hands Ridge a massive distraction from his daughter’s crumbling morality in the form of RJ Forrester.
RJ takes his sketches, the ones he already showed Eric and Zende on August 20th, and pitches a brand new youth line to Ridge. The face of this line is Electra Forrester, the very same Electra who just slammed the door on Bill Spencer for good. Ridge is going to eat this up with a spoon.
He just declared war on the Spencers, so having a Forrester face with zero Spencer baggage is absolute catnip for him.
But here is the massive, hilarious twist that nobody at that boardroom table will say out loud. RJ is Ridge’s son with Brooke, but by blood, RJ is a Marone because Ridge’s biological father is Massimo Marone. RJ has zero Forrester DNA.
Electra, however, is Eric’s grandniece through his brother John’s side. She actually has the Forrester blood. The irony is staggering.
This entire line, meant to carry the Forrester legacy forward, is being pitched by the heir with no Forrester blood, built entirely around the cousin who actually has it. The family tree on this show is a wreath, and the irony is delicious. RJ is totally using corporate resources to pull Electra closer to him.
He knows she is vulnerable after shutting Will out, and he is marking his territory.
Wrapping Electra up in this massive Forrester Creations project ensures she does not even have time to think about Will Spencer. It is brilliant strategy, but also incredibly manipulative. Speaking of Will, the beach house drama is heating up.
Monday ended with Will and Melissa Dylan showering together at the beach house and spending the night. Will was heartbroken over Electra, and Dylan swooped right in.
They went for a night swim, made out in the outdoor shower, and then moved things inside to fully do the deed. Dylan is playing the opportunistic rebound girl to absolute perfection, and Will is too hurt and vulnerable to see he is being played. But Katie Logan Spencer sees it.
Katie takes one look on Tuesday, and her suspicion of Dylan hardens into full-blown alarm.
Katie walks in on the soggy aftermath of their shower bliss and absolutely loses it. She points right at a wet, unbothered Dylan and lectures Will, going on a massive tirade about how this is not the answer to his broken heart. Katie is 100 percent right.
Electra already warned Dylan off Will back in July, and Dylan completely ignored it. Now Will’s mother is circling, and Katie does not play games.
Katie has been zeroing in on Dylan for weeks, calling her by her full name, Melissa Dylan, like it is a curse word. She suspects Dylan is just a gold digger obsessed with the wealthy Spencers who targeted Will to worm her way into the family. And honestly, can you blame her?
Dylan has been shady since day one. But Katie’s timing is about to get so much worse.
On Thursday, August 27th, Darcy Dillon is arriving in Los Angeles. Darcy Dillon, played by the incredible Kelly Sullivan, is Dylan’s mother. Dylan gets busted by Katie, realizes she needs backup, and calls her mom.
Darcy is on her way, and if you know anything about daytime soaps, you know they never bring in a mother without a massive fight waiting in the wings.
Do not be surprised if Katie’s next insult about Dylan lands right in front of Darcy. Darcy is not going to tolerate anyone trashing her daughter’s name, even if she secretly questions Dylan’s choices herself. Reading between the lines, this Katie versus Darcy war is going to start before Labor Day, and it is going to be epic.
Two fierce mothers going toe-to-toe to protect their kids.
Katie has all that Spencer money and Logan influence behind her, but Darcy looks like she has nothing to lose, and those are the most dangerous characters on the canvas. Darcy will dig her heels in, and I would not be surprised if she starts looking into the Spencer family secrets to use as ammunition against Katie. Watch out, Bill Spencer.
Your ex-wife is about to meet her match.
Back to Steffy and Carter, I am still hung up on the possibility that Ridge actually knows more than he is letting on. Ridge Forrester rarely walks away from a locked door and a guilty silence without pushing for the whole story. He heard something from that hallway.
Even if Carter’s excuse sounded plausible, Ridge has instinct. He knows his daughter. He saw the guilt written all over her face.
I kind of feel like Ridge is going to start digging, or at the very least, he will keep a very close eye on Carter. And what happens when Finn finds out? Because he will find out.
Will he finally snap? Finn has been the ultimate good guy, the ultimate forgiving husband. He forgave Steffy for the Liam kisses.
He is begging for forgiveness over the Sheila stuff in Monaco. But this is different.
Sleeping with the COO of the company, a man who is supposed to be a trusted family friend, is a betrayal Finn cannot come back from. And I do not want him to. Finn deserves someone who does not run to another man’s bed the second things get hard.
The chemistry between Steffy and Carter is undeniable, but the collateral damage is just too high. It is a glorious, entertaining, infuriating mess.
Let us talk more about how we got here with Steffy. The whole Monaco trip was supposed to be a beautiful, romantic reset for her and Finn. They were supposed to meet at the church, hear the bells, and celebrate their love in his survival.
Instead, Sheila’s toes were poking out from under a beach towel. The sheer horror Steffy must have felt is unimaginable.
Then to find out Finn knew Sheila was on the flight and did not tell her was the breaking point. Steffy ripping off her wedding rings and throwing them at Finn while the church bells tolled in the background was cinematic perfection. It felt like a funeral for their marriage.
So I get why Steffy was in such a dark place when she flew back to LA. I get why she was drinking on the plane.
She felt completely betrayed by the man who was supposed to protect her from her greatest abuser. But to walk straight into the office and fall into Carter’s arms is where I lose my sympathy. You do not cure a betrayal with another betrayal.
You just do not. And Carter’s history makes this worse. This man has a track record of messy workplace romance.
Remember his affair with Quinn Fuller?
He literally slept with the boss’s wife. He officiated Eric and Quinn’s vow renewal while he was sleeping with Quinn. And now he is sleeping with the boss’s daughter.
Carter Walton is a beautiful, intelligent man, but his decision-making skills when it comes to women are absolutely atrocious. He is so desperate for love, so desperate for a family, that he constantly self-sabotages.
He finally gets Steffy back, and he has already planted the seed of their destruction. I just keep picturing the moment the truth comes out. Because it always comes out.
I predict it will happen at a public event. Maybe the launch of RJ’s new youth line. Imagine the drama.
All the actresses walking the runway, Ridge beaming with pride, Katie and Darcy glaring at each other across the room, and then bam.
The secret drops. Daphne bursts into tears, Finn walks out, and Ridge absolutely explodes on Carter. That is the kind of high-stakes soap opera drama we live for.
But until then, we will have to suffer through weeks of Steffy looking guilty, Carter sweating bullets, and Ridge being blissfully ignorant. It is going to be exquisite torture. I will be glued to my screen every single day watching this train wreck unfold in slow motion.
I am so ready for Kelly Sullivan to shake up this canvas. Having her back on daytime television is a treat. Darcy Dillon is going to be a force of nature.
If Katie thinks she can just bully Dylan out of Los Angeles, she has another thing coming. Darcy is going to dig her heels in, and I would not be surprised if Darcy starts looking into the Spencer family secrets to use as ammunition against Katie.
Watch out, Bill Spencer. Your ex-wife is about to meet her match. The writers are giving us absolute gold right now.
Every single storyline is firing on all cylinders. The corporate wars, the family feuds, the forbidden hookups. This is what makes The Bold and the Beautiful the best half hour on television.
The plot twists are absolutely wild right now, and I cannot wait to see what happens next.
