‘Inspired’ Conor McGregor shares boxing training footage after Katie Taylor’s thrilling win in Chantelle Cameron rematch

A hangover didn’t stop Conor McGregor from training on Sunday.

The UFC superstar spent the previous night partying at the Black Forged Inn to celebrate Katie Taylor becoming a two-weight undisputed world champion.

‘Notorious’, who was sitting ringside when his compatriot fell short against Chantelle Cameron in May, shared footage of the ‘iconic scenes’ at his Dublin pub after Taylor avenged her lone career loss on Saturday night.

It wasn’t long before a video of McGregor’s wild reaction to her majority decision victory was circulating online as he took in the enormity of it all.

The following day, while most people in Ireland were nursing an alcohol-induced headache, McGregor was in the gym working on his boxing.

‘Mystic Mac’ shared four videos of him hitting pads, alongside the caption: “Sunday work with the team, inspired.”

McGregor focused on a different combination in each clip and showed off the skills that allowed him to be somewhat competitive when he fought Floyd Mayweather in his boxing debut six years ago.

After making $100 million in his first squared circle fight, the 35-year-old has vowed to return to the sport before he retires – for now, he’s focused on the UFC.

The divisive MMA legend hasn’t fought since breaking his leg during a trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021.

McGregor has been fit all year, but a dispute with the UFC’s drug testing body, the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, has delayed his comeback bout until 2024.

Lightweight contender Michael Chandler will most likely be his return opponent after they filmed a series of The Ultimate Fighter together earlier this year.

McGregor’s long-time coach, John Kavanagh, recently told talkSPORT his most famous student will fight before the first half of 2024 is over.

UFC 300, which is supposed to take place in April, is viewed as the perfect card for McGregor vs Chandler, but the fight has not been officially booked for any event yet.

Dana White has remained coy on McGregor’s comeback date, although it seems increasingly likely that the UFC CEO will make an official announcement soon.

Until then, fans will wait with bated breath for an update on MMA’s biggest star and his first fight in more than two years.
